BlueNova Energy Setup procedure on Studer Inverter & MPPT
BlueNova Energy products can be set up on Studer Inverters and MPPT Solar Charge Controllers, with only voltage based settings, thus not needing an RCC-02/03 and XcomCAN unit.
Please Note – to set up these voltages, an RCC-02/03 unit is needed on site !
Where an RCC-02/03 unit, as well as an Xcom-CAN unit, is available, the following needs to be done on the Xcom-CAN unit : ( the unit needs to be physically opened to do these changes )
Inside the Xcom-CAN unit, top lefthand side, a red coloured “ Dip Switch “ block is situated.
On the “ Dip Switches “ , the following needs to be set :
ON – 1,2,6,7
OFF – 3,4,5,8
Lower down on the Lefthand side, a block of “Jumper Pins “ is visible: (Red arrow )
The Blue arrow indicates the two “Jumpers” that needs to be set correctly, according to photo’s.
Once these two “settings“ has been done, the BlueNova Energy battery can physically be connected to the Xcom-CAN unit via a “straight” RJ45 cable.
The RJ45 cable connects between the CAN bus port(top) on the BlueNova Energy battery and the lefthand CAN bus port on the Xcom-CAN unit :
Once successfully connected, the Green LED on the Xcom-CAN unit will starts to flash with steady intervals.
This indicates successful communications and the BlueNova Energy batterie’s information will be available on the RCC-02/03 .
The RCC-02/03 units can now be used to program the DOD %, Charge /Dis-charge Currents, etc.
All other settings can also be done now.
Please Note - In cases where the BlueNova Energy battery/ies has been removed from the Studer installation and later returned/re-connected, ( like when a repair was done on the battery/ies), a comms error might be appearing via a red flashing RCC display, after comms wiring has been reconnected .
This indicates that the RCC unit needs to be reset.
This reset is done in the following manner :
Enter the Menu on the RCC unit and navigate to “ Export & Save Data “ .
This process( saving the data) will take a few minutes, whereafter the RCC unit will automatically reset itself.
Once this reset has been done, the CANbus communications should be back online and the Green LED should be flashing on the Xcom-CAN unit.
